Kaka's nonchalant ways and Medical miracles

Medical practice always makes you deal with life and death situations. When you try hard to save someone's life, and the person lives on, you feel satisfied, that as a doctor you could save someone. But even after all your efforts, a person dies, you console yourself, that nothing more could be done and it was the person's fate. As doctors, we hardly ever acknowledge the hand of God in what we do. I would like to share a few miracles where patients lived on and I know, it was not due to medicines or doctors but only due to Kaka's (Satguru Devendra Ghia) efforts.
I was doing my medical residency in pediatrics. It was the year 1998. I was posted in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). There was a young boy about 12 years old who was in the PICU on a ventilator for the past 2 and 1/2 months. He had a medical condition called GBS. It is a kind of paralysis in which following some viral infection, there is paralysis in the nerves of the hands and legs and sometimes even in the nerves that are connected to breathing. Usually, patients with GBS come out with treatment and hardly any patient requires a ventilator for such a long time. Now, this patient's paralysis was just not improving. He would be connected to the ventilator, would be all awake and alert but could not breathe on his own, could not move his hands or legs at all. Whenever I had my night duty, I would sit next to this patient and talk to him. He would be wide awake and would reply only through the blinking of his eyes. It was painful to see him with this tube in his mouth and limbs just limp. Next time, when I went to meet Kaka (Satguru Devendra Ghia), I spoke to him about this patient. Kaka (Satguru Devendra Ghia) told me to give him a sip of lukewarm water and said he will be alright. He said, the lukewarm water will stimulate his paralyzed nerves and they would start functioning. Though medical science would consider this humbug, there was not an ounce of disbelief in my mind, since these words were uttered by my satguru. I went back to the PICU and asked his mom to give him a small teaspoon of lukewarm water- just one teaspoon a day. She did this for 3 days and after 3 days, there was a flicker of movement in the limbs. The child started making an effort to breathe and by the next week, the child was off the ventilator. In the next 10 days, the child started walking and one month later, the child went home. All this occurred only due to the grace of Kaka . I truly believe, the lukewarm water was just a medium to divert attention so that we consider that water worked and not bombard Kaka with too many demands!! Imagine if God performed miracles without any medium in place, we would trouble god so much that he would literally have to run away from us!!
The other medical miracle that stands out in my mind is of an elderly doctor's family. A very well known gynecologist underwent bypass surgery in the USA. This was a second bypass and since the first bypass was also done in the USA, they preferred to do the second one also in the US. He was accompanied by his wife who was a pediatrician. During the surgery, there were a lot of complications, the heart swelled up. The doctors could not close the chest and the patient had to be shifted to the ICU with the heart beating outside and an open chest. The gynecologist was hovering between life and death. He remained in this critical condition for almost a month. The doctor couple had run out of money (medical treatment is very expensive in the US especially if you are not on insurance) and there was no way they could pay the hospital bills. These doctor couples are very close to me and when I came to know about this, I immediately went to Kaka and told him all this. Kaka told me to give him the recent photograph of the gynecologist. I immediately went to their clinic, clicked a photo of his from a new frame, and gave it to Kaka . Kaka prayed for his good health. He also told me that they had run up a medical bill of Rs 1 cr (in those days about 20 years ago) and they did not have the capacity to pay that. He told me to pass a message to his pediatrician wife that her husband would be alright and not to worry. I called her up in the USA and told her what Kaka said. Soon, the husband became alright and in a couple of months, they returned back to India. When they came back, I told her that Kaka had told me about their medical bills and wondered how they paid it. She then told me that the hospital waived off all their charges. She said, there was a small clause in their contract that saved them. Even the hospital was not aware of that clause. It was only after about a month of their stay and when the hospital was calculating their medical bills and wondering how they would pay, that they came across this clause, and then the hospital itself waived it off showing them the fine print of this clause. This happened about the same time that Kaka told me about their inability to pay the bills. It then dawned that Kaka had worked a miracle even to work out their financial issue and not only the health issue.
The ways of satguru are too divine to know them. It is only with his grace that you can come to know them.
