In this English hymn, He shows us the importance of doing something on our own and the fulfillment that we will feel from it along with the final result -
Whenever we decide to put our sincere efforts to achieving any goals, we are going to get immense satisfaction that we put our focus on it, made all the required efforts and got the results or came close to getting the benefits that we are hoping for
We must have the earnestness and tenacity but must also ensure that we do not let not let our arrogance and conceit overshadow our efforts
We may encounter challenges that may seem futile to resolve ; but, we can decide to persevere in our efforts no matter whatever happens
We should focus on how to succeed in our efforts instead of focusing on why it cannot happen
We must ignore our doubts by setting them aside and have the mental strength to move forward step by step towards our goal
As we keep making progress towards reaching our goal, it will also become apparent to us that our goal is also that much nearer to us to reach, with lesser and lesser distance from the goal to us
Regardless of whatever progress we may be making towards our goal, our goal has to remain unwavering and steadfast ; if not, our efforts and progress will start drifting and get sidetracked
We must not accept anything to be impossible and instead break up the word to consider it as i (a)m possible, which means we should not have to hesitate or doubt to try to achieve it
Once we are able to achieve our goal, it means that we did what was necessary and then got what exactly what we wanted ; the end result will make up for any difficulties faced in achieving it
We must have the confidence and determination to go after whatever we want to achieve. By making the effort, we are assured that we at least have some chance of success. If we do not even decide to make the effort, we have already prevented our own self from having any chance of success at all. If we are relentless, whether slow/fast, little/huge steps in the right direction, it is all a part of the process of achieving our goal. Once we start, God will also help us as God helps those who help themselves. If we ourselves do not want to make the effort, then we should not expect God or anyone else to make the effort for us or help us either.
